This is to let you know that there IS SCHOOL TOMORROW 01/09/2024(unless things change overnight). You should have received a text, email, and Oakers App notification titled Winter Weather Alert Practice. This alert was to make everyone aware of our new notification system in case school closures and emergencies. If you DID NOT receive any notifications please let your school office know so we can get you added.
Oakland Elementary School recently hosted a vision screening event in partnership with the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation (OLSHF). OLSHF uses a digital photo screener device called SPOT to detect a number of potential eye conditions. It works like a large digital camera. If your student was present on the day of the screening, you will be receiving a results letter from your student's exam. If your student was absent, the OLSHF recommends that all children receive an annual vision exam by an eye care professional. Thank you for all you do!
Please remember WE DO HAVE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY Tomorrow, Friday the 5th.
Winter Spirit Week
Each of our classrooms will continue celebrating kindness by each homeroom filling a kindness jar with snippets of paper describing students’ acts of kindness at home or at school. Homeroom teachers will be sending home snippets of paper (sticky notes) for everyone to help fill our jars!! You could help us out at home by writing down a kind act you see your child doing on the sticky note snippet and sending it into school with them to put inside of their classroom kindness jar. At the end of the day Monday, December 11th, Miss Fox will be pulling one to two snippets from each homeroom jar to read aloud during our Tuesday Talk w/ Miss Fox weekly message. We look forward to seeing our jars full with acts of kindness-
We are going to have a round of sales with our locally owned Wild Oak Print Shop- There are two options for the Statement on the items; #1 THEY are tiny but MIGHTY!!! or #2 WE are tiny but MIGHTY!!! (see attached flyer)
Families have the opportunity to drop off pre-filled flyers to the OES office by 12/7 OR they can order directly from the print shop.
This is a new process for us. We wanted to give it a try and hope it works well so we can expand our options. The Print Shop can have other options of designs and materials for a later date. NOTE the current options on the flyer, Sweatshirts, T-shirts, Crew Neck, Hoodies, etc.

Hey KIDS and families!
NED’s Mindset Mission Assembly is visiting our school! NED and our students take a journey to find their positive mindset. The show is filled with storytelling, humor, illusions and amazing yo-yo tricks where our kids learn the hidden message in NED's name:
Never give up — understand The Power of YET
Encourage others — spark courage in other people
Do your best® — always be learning and growing
Do you want to learn to yo? A yo-yo is both a mindset tool and a tangible reminder of
NED's message. While learning to yo, children will make mistakes, try again and improve.

Hello Oaker families! Happy October! As we go into the colder seasons, we are noticing more and more coats and sweatshirts being left behind at school. We still had an abundance of lost and found items from last school year. We will be donating the lost items starting on Monday October 16th to a local worthy cause. Please double check the lost and found as soon as you can. Thank you for all you do in making our school the best it can be for our students! We appreciate you! Go Oakers!
