Students- finals are just around the corner. This is the last week of the quarter, and Finals begin tomorrow! Remember that your quarter 1 and quarter 2 grades average together for 80% of your grade, and finals are worth 20%. You need to make sure to study for finals, as your semester grade is the grade that goes on your transcript and gets you closer to graduation. If you are in danger of failing, you will be receiving an invitation to attend “office hours” with your teachers during the 8:00 Study session. You are encouraged to use that time to prepare for finals and seek help from teachers.

Students! There is a big need for help in the Nut-Hut for the basketball games this week! They are on Friday and Saturday, so if you have not helped yet, this weekend is a great opportunity to do so. This is not only for Juniors! If you are interested, go sign up with Mr. Ivie.

As we jump into the swing of winter sports, remember, even if you are not an athlete, you need to be at school to attend after-school activities. If you are home sick during the day, then you should not be at the game in the evening. Be at school, so you can come cheer on our teams after school.

Greetings Oaker Families,
I cannot believe how fast January (and the entire school year) is flying by. I wanted to remind you that there is no school this Monday, in observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There will however, be school on Friday January 24th. It is very important that your students attend class on Friday, as we are approaching Final Exams the following week. Again, I cannot say it enough, but studying and preparing for Final Exams is very important, as they make up 20% of the student’s final grade. Students should be receiving study guides in their classes next week. Please be asking them about their study guides, and supporting them in getting organized, taking time to review notes, and take final exams seriously. Finals will be January 28, 29, and 30th. I will send a detailed schedule home next week. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for a great 1st semester.
Rachel Swearingen
